Marine archaeologist, Mensun Bound, and trends analyst, Dr Antonia Ward, will share their experience and insights as part of two keynote speeches taking place at the Expedition Cruise Network (ECN) Conference.
The event takes place on September 29-30.
The content has been carefully curated by ECN co-Founder, Akvile Marozaite, to be both a celebration of expedition cruising’s extraordinary heritage and a forum for discussing its future.
Bound is one of the leading marine archaeologists and was director of exploration on the team that discovered Endurance, the lost ship of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, in the Weddell Sea in 2022.
His keynote will reveal the intricacies, challenges and excitements of one of the most remarkable maritime discoveries of modern times, giving delegates a unique opportunity to engage with one of the greatest stories in polar exploration and a better understanding of the enduring appeal of Antarctica.
His session will take place on day one of the conference, which is targeted at travel advisors who are new to expedition cruising.
It is being supported by the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust, who will also be displaying a detailed 3D model of the largely intact Endurance as she rests on the seabed.
Dr Ward will deliver the keynote on day two of the conference, which is aimed at more experienced sellers of expedition cruising.
She is chief futurist at Stylus, the trends intelligence consultancy helping forward-thinking businesses to navigate the consumer trends and cultural forces reshaping industries worldwide.
Her presentation will explore how travellers will discover, research, book and experience travel in the years ahead, providing practical insights into how businesses can prepare for evolving customer expectations and emerging technologies.
The session is designed to challenge conventional thinking and leave delegates with actionable ideas for future-proofing their businesses.
The Expedition Cruise Network Conference is now in its third year, and is firmly established as the leading B2B forum dedicated exclusively to expedition cruising.
Sponsors of the event include HX Expeditions, travel technology company Kaptio, Wanderlust magazine and the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust, with The Polar Collective joining as the new charity partner.
