RENOVATION, FAMILY & WELLBEING NEWS from Rocco Forte Hotels Verdura Resort

Verdura Resort unveils the redesign of 58 accommodations, marking the first chapter of a three-year room renovation programme at Rocco Forte Hotels’ destination in the Agrigento area. Developed in collaboration with Studio Moschino, the new interior concept has been introduced across 10 Grand, Family and Pool Suites and 48 Double Deluxe and Seafront rooms elevating the guest experience through a renewed focus on comfort, craftsmanship and connection to the surrounding coastline.

COASTAL MODERNISM | Inspired by the principles of ‘coastal modernism’, the design balances architectural precision with the easy rhythm of seaside living. Modernist proportions are reimagined through an emphasis on light and space, while materials take a leading role. Natural stone, travertine and limestone are combined with warm open-grain woods, linen, wool, textured cotton, woven rattan and bespoke glazed ceramics. In the bathrooms, handcrafted tiles bring subtle colour and texture, adding depth and character. Lounge areas and bedrooms face the sea without interruption, with visual barriers kept to a minimum, so that the Mediterranean horizon becomes a constant presence, and a continuation of the living space.

“The work carried out with Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen reflects the most authentic narrative of the destination and the identity of Verdura Resort,” says Olga Polizzi, Co-Founder and Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels. “The spaces surround guests with light, beauty and wellbeing, conveying a true sense of Sicily.”

THE FORTE SUITES: PRIVACY, GENEROUS SPACES, SHARED LIVING | Crossing the threshold, guests are welcomed into contemporary Sicilian retreats where generous proportions and a sense of privacy create an immediate feeling of ease. Expansive yet intimate, the suites are defined by a quiet, understated luxury that prioritises comfort, light and sense of place. Clean lines are softened by a palette drawn from the changing colours of the coastline throughout the day: warm neutrals and chalk white, ocean blue and aquamarine, washed terracotta and soft coral, grounded by deeper tones inspired by wet stone and sea-worn driftwood.

The 10 Forte Suites express a bespoke approach to hospitality, thoughtfully designed for families and groups of friends. Generous shared living areas encourage time together, while the bedrooms serve as intimate retreats, conceived to foster rest, privacy and a sense of calm.  Each Forte Suite has its own personality, each reflecting “a distinct facet of the Sicilian spirit”. The Mimosa Suite, takes its energy from Verdura Resort’s own gardens, ochre accents and floral motifs, creating an overall warm and luminous quality. The Peonia Suite has a quieter, more considered mood, coral and ochre tones composing what Moschino and Vergeylen describe as “an elegant, feminine sanctuary.” The Acacia Suite turns toward the countryside beyond the shoreline, deep greens and warm woodwork pulling the olive groves directly into the living space.

Bespoke details enrich the interiors throughout, giving the suites a refined, residential feel. Integrated wall libraries act as sculptural features and are finished in textured plaster, while desks and shelving introduce a sophisticated eggshell-red accent. A dedicated bar serves as the focal point of the living space, with discreet lighting, a mirrored backdrop and a honed Light Emperador marble counter. Together, these elements add polish and character while reinforcing the suites’ calm, contemporary atmosphere.

Commissioned works by Spanish artist Cristina Mena complete the space. Her abstract pieces in ochre, terracotta and charcoal black reflect the island’s volcanic landscape and light, adding a contemporary contrast to the interiors’ geometric design.

SUITES & BEYOND | The programme extends beyond interiors to the experiences curated for Rocco Forte Hotels suite guests. With Suites & Beyond, each stay is enhanced by opportunities to discover the surroundings through local immersions and thoughtful bespoke touches.

At Verdura, Forte Suite guests are invited to immerse themselves in the historic village of Caltabellotta, recently recognised as an emerging Blue Zone, to uncover the secrets of longevity through a truly transformative and rejuvenating experience. Alternatively, suite guests may choose the unique thrill of breakfasting in the Valley of the Temples, one of the world’s most breathtaking archaeological and cultural landscapes:
