Samsung released the stable One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy A16 5G last month. Now, the company has already started testing One UI 9 based on Android 17 for the same device.

The One UI 9 build for the Galaxy A16 5G has been spotted on Samsung’s servers. It carries firmware version A166BXXU8EZF1. The update is currently being tested for the European market.

However, users should not expect a beta or stable release anytime soon. Samsung has already rolled out the One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26 series. That lineup is likely to receive the final stable update first.

In addition, Samsung has already confirmed an early rollout strategy for its next foldables. The upcoming folding phones are expected to ship with One UI 9 out of the box. These devices include the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Reports suggest a launch event on July 22 in London.

Meanwhile, Samsung is expanding internal testing for One UI 9 across more devices. The Galaxy S25 series is also part of this testing phase. Other devices include the Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A57. Even the unannounced Galaxy S26 FE is also being tested.
