IndiGo has become the first airline to commence commercial operations from Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, marking the start of services from the National Capital Region’s newest aviation gateway.

The airline’s inaugural arrival at NIA was from Lucknow, while the first departure operated to Bengaluru. With the launch, IndiGo will directly connect the airport to more than 16 destinations across India, expanding travel options for passengers in Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh.

The network will also facilitate one-stop connectivity across 14 city pairs, including Amritsar-Jodhpur, Bareilly-Bhopal, Bareilly-Jaipur, Bareilly-Jodhpur, Dharamshala-Jodhpur, Chandigarh-Bareilly, Chandigarh-Kishangarh, Chandigarh-Pantnagar, Jammu-Jodhpur, Jaipur-Dharamshala, Jaipur-Pantnagar, Kishangarh-Bhopal, Pantnagar-Jaipur and Pantnagar-Jodhpur. According to the airline, these connections are expected to improve accessibility between tier-2 and tier-3 cities and major metropolitan centres.

Aloke Singh, Chief Strategy Officer, IndiGo, said, “Opening of the Noida International Airport marks a new chapter in India’s aviation story. Delhi NCR now joins a select group of global megacities served by multiple airports. For IndiGo, the privilege of being the launch carrier at NIA is more than a commercial milestone; it is a commitment to western Uttar Pradesh, to the broader Delhi NCR, and the millions of travellers for whom this gateway opens new possibilities. We are proud to be here from day one.”

The opening of NIA adds a new aviation hub to the NCR region and is expected to support growing passenger demand while complementing existing airport infrastructure. Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is positioned to serve both passenger and cargo traffic and support broader economic development in the region.

Christoph Schnellmann, Vice Chairman, Noida International Airport, said, “Welcoming IndiGo’s first flights marks the beginning of a new chapter for Noida International Airport. As our launch carrier, IndiGo will connect NIA to key destinations across India, providing passengers with greater choice and convenience from day one. We look forward to working closely with IndiGo to deliver a seamless travel experience and support the continued growth of aviation, trade and tourism across the region.”

With the addition of Noida International Airport, IndiGo now operates from all three airports serving the National Capital Region – Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad and Noida International Airport in Jewar.
