With commercial operations at Noida International Airport set to commence on 15 June 2026, a new LocalCircles survey suggests that competitive fares are beginning to influence travel decisions across the Delhi NCR region.
The survey, which gathered responses from more than 14,000 air travellers across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, found that 23 per cent of respondents have either booked or intend to book flights through Noida Airport over the next three months. Of these, 8 per cent have already made bookings, while another 15 per cent indicated plans to use the airport for upcoming travel.
The findings mark a significant increase from a survey conducted in May 2026, when only 5 per cent of respondents expressed willingness to consider flying through Noida Airport. At that time, higher ticket prices, limited airline options and concerns over connectivity were identified as major deterrents.
The latest survey comes as airlines have adjusted pricing ahead of the airport’s launch. According to LocalCircles, fares on several key domestic routes from Noida are now comparable to, and in some cases lower than, those available from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The report attributes this change partly to Uttar Pradesh’s lower aviation turbine fuel VAT structure, which provides airlines with a cost advantage.
Ground connectivity has also improved ahead of the launch. Authorities have introduced a dedicated electric bus network linking key locations in Noida and Greater Noida with the airport. The first phase includes around 30 electric buses operating across multiple routes, including direct connectivity from Botanical Garden and Sector-90. Ticket prices have been kept between INR 10 and INR 50, with the full Botanical Garden-to-airport journey priced at INR 50.
Despite growing interest in Noida Airport, Delhi Airport continues to dominate traveller preference. The survey found that 46 per cent of respondents are already scheduled to fly exclusively through Delhi Airport, while another 31 per cent intend to continue using Delhi for future travel. This leaves 77 per cent of respondents still favouring the established airport, primarily due to its proximity, familiarity and existing metro and rapid rail connections.
The survey suggests that fare competitiveness remains the strongest factor influencing airport choice. While improved bus services have helped address some connectivity concerns, longer-term infrastructure projects, including metro extensions and the proposed Ghaziabad-Noida-Jewar Regional Rapid Transit System corridor, are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Noida Airport’s position in the NCR aviation market.
LocalCircles stated that the findings will be shared with relevant government agencies and aviation stakeholders to support future decisions related to airport tariffs, connectivity planning and operational development.
