GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE) — City leaders hosted their annual health fair at Grambling City Hall on June 18, 2026.
The health fair is a big part of Grambling Juneteenth heritage festival.
Epsilon Psi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority incorporated and the Greater Grambling Chamber of commerce partnered to connect residents and medical professionals to health screenings and workshops to the community.
The health and wellness event has been been a staple for four years. Attendees received blood pressure checks, cholesterol tests and kidney health screenings. A cancer support group also provided information.
Medical professionals spoke to residents about mental health resources and primary care services.
Organizers said the goal is to close the health care gap and connect residents with services.

“A lot of times we don’t have insurance, so there are services available to those who do not have insurance where they can still keep their health intact because we know a healthy person makes for a longer life and a better quality of life.”
organizer say they’re goal is to be of service to all mankind. and if they can help provide free health screenings, wellness resources, and mental health support to residents, then they’re doing their job.
According to the Association of Black Cardiologists Inc. these are seven steps to keep your heart healthy:
- Access better health care
- Take charge of your blood pressure
- Control your cholesterol
- Track your blood sugar
- Eat smart and enjoy regular exercise
- Do Not use tobacco
- Be spiritually active and reduce stress
