UConn Health officially celebrated the grand opening of its expanded Torrington office at 507 East Main Street marking an important milestone in its commitment to providing convenient access to comprehensive healthcare services for residents of Northwest Connecticut.
The celebration brought together UConn Health leaders, providers, staff, community partners, and local officials to recognize the opening of the newly renovated facility, which offers a broad range of primary and specialty care services under one roof.
The Torrington location first welcomed patients during a soft opening in April, when UConn Health relocated its internal medicine practice, led by Dr. Jonathan Moseley, from its previous Torrington site. Since then, the location has expanded to include rotating specialty services such as Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Comprehensive Spine Care, and Vascular Surgery, along with Imaging and Radiology services and Blood Draw and Laboratory Services.
The expanded office reflects UConn Health’s ongoing efforts to make high-quality healthcare more accessible to communities across the state while providing patients with coordinated care closer to home.
“This investment reflects our long-term commitment to this region. It’s about responding to the needs of the Torrington community, improving convenience and continuity of care, and helping ensure faster diagnoses and better health outcomes,” said Dr. Andy Agwunobi, CEO UConn Health. “We are excited about the future and look forward to continuing to grow with and serve the greater Torrington area for many years to come. ”
As Connecticut’s only public academic medical center, UConn Health continues to expand access to expert care through community-based locations that connect patients with both primary and specialty services. The Torrington office serves as an example of that mission by bringing multiple healthcare disciplines together in a single, convenient setting.
“This site exemplifies the mission of UConn Health – providing exceptional quality and integrated patient care, a positive patient experience, a great teaching environment that sparks creativity, innovation, and research – with the bonus of being under a beautiful new roof,” said Anne Horbatuck, chief operating officer, UConn Medical Group.
The development of the new site (approximately 11,500 sq. ft.) was the result of a significant collaborative effort involving teams across UConn Health. Planning, renovation, and operational readiness required coordination among ambulatory operations, facilities, information technology, regulatory and compliance, finance, supply chain, pharmacy, telecommunications, marketing and communications, and numerous clinical and administrative departments. In addition to the clinical space there are teaching spaces, academic offices, a casting room, a radiology suite and a blood draw station to make it easy and convenient for our patients.
The Torrington location now offers:
- Blood Draw and Laboratory Services
- Comprehensive Spine Care and Total Joint
- Imaging and Radiology
- Internal Medicine
- Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
- Vascular Surgery
OB/GYN, Cardiology and Pulmonary will be coming soon to this location.
By expanding services in Torrington, UConn Health is helping ensure that residents throughout the region have access to expert care in their own community, reducing the need to travel while strengthening connections between patients and providers.
