Apple has upgraded Safari in iOS 27 with several Apple Intelligence features focused on better browsing, organization, and performance. The update introduces smarter tab handling, custom AI extensions, and new safety tools.
Safari now uses Apple Intelligence to group open tabs into related topics. This helps users keep browsing sessions more organized and less cluttered. For example, shopping and travel tabs are automatically separated.
Users can enable this feature from the tab view by tapping the three-line icon in the top right. They can turn on “Automatically Create Topics.” The same menu also allows filtering tabs by topic.
Resume Browsing and Saved Content
A new “Resume Browsing” section appears on the Start Page. It helps users continue recently closed topics or synced tabs across devices. Bookmarks and Reading List items can also be grouped by topic.
Custom Extensions with Apple Intelligence
Safari now allows users to create custom extensions using Apple Intelligence. They can describe what they want, and Safari builds the extension.
Apple also suggests options like focus timers, citations, font adjustments, and webpage styling. Users can also create fun changes like retro designs or alternate text styles.
Notify Me Feature
Safari can now track websites and send alerts when updates appear. It is useful for ticket sales or product restocks. Users can activate it from the settings icon next to the URL bar.
They can also define what to track and how often checks occur. Safari checks sites at most once per day.
Password and Safety Improvements
The Passwords app can now detect weak or compromised passwords. It can automatically replace them with strong ones. Safari helps sign in and update passwords with user approval.
Apple also adds “Ask to Browse” for parental control. It requires children to get approval before opening new websites.
Performance and Availability
Safari in iOS 27 is also faster and more efficient. Pages load quicker, and animations run more smoothly. Battery use has also improved.
These features require Apple Intelligence and work on iPhone 15 Pro and later. iOS 27 is currently in beta and will be released in the fall of 2026.
