At Apple’s WWDC 2026, the company showed new Apple Intelligence features along with an upgraded Siri AI. But not every device will be able to use them. Apple said its most advanced on-device AI model needs at least 12GB of unified memory. This was confirmed in a press release. The same model powers several new Apple Intelligence tools.

These tools also improve Siri. Siri now has more natural-sounding voices. It also offers better dictation, which should make typing by voice easier and more accurate.

On iPhones, the new AI features will only work on the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. All of these models come with 12GB of unified memory. The regular iPhone 17 will not support these features because it has 8GB of RAM.

On iPads, Apple will support models with the M4 chip or newer. These devices also need at least 12GB of unified memory. On Macs, the support goes to devices with the M3 chip or later with 12GB RAM or more.

The Apple Vision Pro with the M5 chip will also support the new AI features. This keeps the experience limited to newer Apple hardware. The rollout will come with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate later this year.
