Apple is reportedly developing the second-generation iPhone Air, with a launch expected in spring 2027. The current iPhone Air made its debut in September 2025 as part of Apple’s lineup.
According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, citing people familiar with the matter, the upcoming iPhone Air 2 will bring a notable camera upgrade. The device is expected to feature a dual rear camera system. Unlike the first-generation model, Apple is said to add an ultrawide camera alongside the main sensor. Internally, the smartphone reportedly carries the codename V62.
The report suggests that Apple will keep the overall design largely unchanged. However, the company is expected to improve battery life in the new model. It is not yet clear how Apple plans to achieve those gains. The improvement could come from a larger battery, a more efficient chipset, software optimizations, or a combination of these factors.
In addition, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to share the same processor as Apple’s upcoming premium models. Gurman reports that the device will run on the A20 Pro chip, which is also expected to power this year’s iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
Apple is reportedly planning to launch the iPhone Air 2 alongside the standard iPhone 18 in spring 2027. While the company has not officially confirmed any details, the latest report provides an early look at what could be Apple’s next major update to the Air series.
