At Cannes China Night, Honor revealed that its Robot Phone will launch in Q3 (July-September). The phone attended another cinematic event, the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), to show off its photo and video skills.
Elle Men, SIFF’s official fashion and lifestyle partner magazine, used the Honor Robot Phone to film cinematic video portraits of the SIFF jury members.

The phone was chosen for its unique gimbal system, which provides better stability during handheld shots. This reduces the need for digital stabilization. Because digital stabilization is done by cropping in and sacrifices image quality, the less it is used, the better the final image quality.

It’s not just that – in March, Honor officially partnered with ARRI, which is one of the best-known makers of Hollywood cameras. The Honor Robot Phone is the first device developed as part of the Honor-ARRI partnership.
More Honor phones and robots at SIFF
If you click through the photos from the event, you will see that there was more Honor hardware in attendance than just the Robot Phone – some of the photos were shot with the Honor Magic8 Pro. You can also see the Honor robot (in red) that recently won a half marathon that featured both robots and humans competing.
The Honor Robot Phone’s headlining feature is the gimbal camera. The gimbal is made of titanium alloy and is driven by high-performance motors. It can retract into the phone’s body for protection and extend when needed. Besides stabilization, it can also use AI object tracking algorithms to track objects.
