Xiaomi’s upcoming Mix Fold 5 has reportedly cleared a sales certification in China. The device carries the model number 2608BPX34C. This certification appeared earlier than the Xiaomi 18 series lineup.

This early approval suggests a possible shift in Xiaomi’s launch timeline. It may not arrive alongside the Xiaomi 18 family in September. Instead, Xiaomi could introduce it earlier than expected. Traditionally, the company holds a mid-August launch window for select products, which now seems likely.

Interestingly, the Mix Fold 5 is not tied to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. The Xiaomi 18 series is expected to rely on that platform. However, the foldable model is said to use Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 processor. This chip will reportedly replace last year’s Xring O1 and bring improved performance.

Leaks also point to a large inner display measuring between 7.5 and 7.6 inches. The screen is expected to feature a nearly seamless crease design. In addition, the device may include a 200MP main camera for high-resolution photography. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is also expected.

Power could come from a 6,000 mAh battery with wireless charging support. Moreover, the Mix Fold 5 may debut with HyperOS based on Android 17. This could make it the first Xiaomi device with the next-generation software experience.

However, pricing may be on the higher side. According to the leak, the starting price is around CNY 10,000, which is roughly $1,479. This places it firmly in the premium foldable segment.
